Assists the Director of Family and Social Services and the Special Education Coordinator by providing direct services to local schools, such as therapeutic interventions with students, consultation concerning intervention strategies, referral and follow-up, assessment and in-service. Scope of Responsibility: Provides psycho-social assessment for the identification of children’s needs Provides computer generated assessment reports within the required timelines. Provides crisis intervention services by identifying and assessing student/family needs and initiating an appropriate action plan. Participates, when called upon, in Crisis Team interventions at other schools. Provides related social work services in compliance with a student’s IEP. Provides information and referral services for the child and family to other community resources. Works directly with the child and family to collaborate with other community resources. Establishes and maintains contact with school personnel for the purpose of discussing and implementing techniques of working with children and their families. Maintains case records, reports and all necessary forms in order to provide for continuity of service and program accountability, including work time reporting. Follows established guidelines of the program in which the Social Worker is employed. Provides parent training in areas need. Conducts functional behavioral assessments and behavior plans as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Family and Social Services. Because of the therapeutic nature of this position any duty involving disciplinary action may not be assigned. Duties assigned during standardized testing should allow for substitution in the event a mental health crisis should occur during this time.
