Job Summary: Provides evidenced-based clinical treatments to patients and their families to ensure patients’ mental health and/or substance use disorders are stabilized. Provides evidenced-based individual, group, and family therapies to adolescent and adult patients with acute and chronic mental health and/or substance use disorders. Participates in the interdisciplinary treatment team; provides ongoing assessments and evaluations, treatment planning, and discharge plans for all patients on inpatient units. Participates in courts services for patients on involuntary Florida Mental Health Act of 1971 (“Baker Act”) proceedings; prepares court summaries and liaises with court personnel on the facility’s behalf. Completes suicide risk assessments (incorporating suicide risk and self-harm treatment planning) and educates patients and families on coping strategies. Mains an independent patient case load on the inpatient units; ensures any suspected and/or stated abuse/neglect is reported appropriately and documented in medical records. Works collaboratively with Nursing and other treatment team members to ensure patients’ concerns are being addressed timely. Conducts evidenced-based dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and other treatment services based on individualized treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a mental health specialty (e.g., Master of Social Work, Master of Mental Health, Master of Mental Health Counseling, or Master of Marriage and Family Therapy) from an accredited university.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in social work
  • Two (2) years of relevant post-master's degree work experience in a social work or human services field in a mental health care setting.
  • Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
  • Knowledge of changes to mental health and substance use disorders in terms of diagnostics.
  • Awareness of best practices for treating co-occurring disorders.
  • Licensed as a mental health professional (e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)) in accordance with Florida Statutes (FS), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 491 (Clinical, Counseling, and Psychotherapy Services).
