About The Position

Develop, maintain and implement record review tools for each of the Child Welfare programs ensuring that review elements are consistent with state, federal, and other monitoring requirements. Conduct quality reviews of the various Child Welfare Programs (i.e. CPS Investigations and Family Assessment, Foster Care, Adoptions, InHome Services, Intake, and the Screen Out process) using record review tools. Complete in-depth analysis on record reviews to determine error trends and causes of error trends regarding case records and case management. Create summary reports regarding the data analyzed to present to Program Manager and Supervisors. Make recommendations based on findings from data analysis to Program Manager and Supervisors to improve quality of work. Assist in mapping out training plans, design and develop training programs. Deliver training that is relevant to the work that is being conducted as well as on identified error trends through record reviews in Child Welfare. Assist in marketing available training opportunities to employees and provide necessary information to encourage participation. Conduct program wide needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed. Design and prepare educational aids and materials. Responsible to work with internal stakeholders to help develop and refine the On-Boarding program. Develop and utilize local staff and community relationships to aid in the onboarding process. Assess instructional effectiveness and summarize evaluation reports determining the impact of training on employee skills. Work closely with Child Welfare Services Supervisors to assist and support the program needs regarding quality of work. Attend and participate in all State reviews, audits of Child Welfare and meetings with State Program Representatives to interpret and apply policy. Assist other QAT members with program evaluation and data analysis to improve quality of work. Assist in providing quality soft-skills training to DSS New Hires and refresher trainings to existing DSS employees. Participate in unit/section meetings to discuss quality reviews and training elements.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to complexcasework, groupwork, and community problems.
  • Considerable knowledge of a wide range of medical, behavioral, and/or psychosocial problems and theirtreatment theory.
  • Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmentaland private organizations, and resources in the community, laws, regulations, and policies which govern theprogram.
  • General knowledge of the methods and principles of casework supervision and training.
  • In certain settings, considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment asthey relate to decisions regarding clinical interventions and appropriate therapies based on medical orpsychological diagnosis.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with a client and in applying techniques or assessing psychosocial, behavioral, andpsychological aspects of client's problems.
  • Ability to supervise, train, or instruct lower-level social workers, students, or interns in the program.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of case load and their families,as well as civic, legal, medical, social, and religious organizations.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
  • Must possess professional judgment, as well as analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • MSW from an accredited school of social work; BSW from an accredited school of social work; BSW from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; master's degree in counseling in a human services field and one year of social work or counseling; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Strongly prefer knowledge of Child Welfare Services laws, policies and best practices as well as knowledge of other DSS programs.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Social Work interns in their fieldwork, overseeing the entire range of field experience.
  • Ensure interns' activities are meeting field education objectives.
  • Maintain regular contact with the intern and agency supervisors involved in the internship.
  • Meet with the college's faculty liaison at least once each semester during the interns' internship.
  • Assess intern's skills and abilities and provide feedback on strengths, weaknesses, teaching moments, etc. to the intern in regular supervision, using information provided by the intern's task supervisor.
