About The Position

The Donor Social Worker conducts comprehensive psychosocial assessments, individual psychotherapy, treatment plans, and support, including coordination of discharge planning for potential kidney and liver donors or heart and lung transplant recipients through all phases of care including pre-donation/pre-transplantation, donation/transplant, and post-donation/post-transplant. The Donor Social Worker collaborates with the multidisciplinary transplant team, complies with required standards for medical/legal responsibilities, and serves as a resource to other allied and administrative staff within the Section of Social Work and the Department of Nursing. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • master's in social work (MSW) degree
  • clinical level licensure
  • LICSW licensure to practice independently at the clinical level is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in living organ donation, transplantation, medical ethics, informed consent, and donor decision-making.
  • Advanced knowledge of mental illness, personality development, knowledge of the types of treatment, and skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnoses and chronic disease.
  • Strong communication skills, both in verbal and written form, are needed to interact with patients, patient’s family members, multidisciplinary team, community agencies, and other resources.
  • Psychosocial diagnostic skills.
