About The Position

Marathon County’s Department of Social Services is recruiting for a Social Work Supervisor position. The position will supervise the Child Protective Services – Access and Initial Assessment Unit; which is responsible for receiving, screening and responding to child maltreatment reports. This includes oversight of social workers responsible to complete intake calls regarding child protection concerns, Initial Assessments, in home protective plans and court petitions to ensure child safety, in addition to short term case management to families through an in home safety services program. Position also supervises the foster care program and an early intervention program, Community Response. Examples of Work Performed: The following duties are typical for this position. Bachelor's degree from an approved college or university in Social Work or closely related field, and 2 years supervisory or lead worker experience required, preferably in a human services related setting; OR equivalent combination of closely related education and experience required.
Certification as a Social Worker required
Possession of a driver’s license and a driving record that meets County standards; OR ability to obtain reliable transportation.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Master’s degree in related area preferred.

Responsibilities

Manages professional and support staff by prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
Manages and provides oversight to the implementation of internal operations, which includes planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and service offerings; ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and standards; and coordinating activities between multiple service areas.
Ensures compliance with Child Protective Services Standards through consultation with social workers and approval of case related documents in eWiSACWIS.
Provides leadership in the organization, development, coordination, and implementation of various service delivery programs.
Leads the establishment of outcomes for internal programs and services and external contracted services.
Leads the organization to develop and improve programs and services that continually meet the outcomes established by state and federal guidelines for the ultimate goal of excellent customer service, child and public safety.
Provides oversight and prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors and controls expenditures.
Participates in identifying funding sources; writing grant documents; monitoring compliance with grant requirements; and performing related activities.
Prepares and supervises the preparation of statistical, quality assurance, and governmental reports.
Ensures that our customers receive high quality services, through quality assurance activities.
Ensures that the agency's work environment represents an alignment with agency mission, vision, and strategies, and leads a positive work culture.
Ensures team works effectively across departments and within internal teams, and with all business partners.
Represents the department; serves as a liaison to external agencies; attends various meetings in the community.
Makes presentations to committees.
Responds to community and individual concerns and inquiries about child safety
Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Works extra hours as required.
Provides supervisory on call duties for the social work section.
Performs related work as required.
