Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Supervises a team of Child Welfare Social Workers. This position is responsible for receiving and investigating reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. Duties include coordinating, implementing, and managing, and supporting all activities that are performed by five social workers assigned to an assessment/investigative unit, whom work 8:30 am -5:00 pm. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the front line social workers carry our their functions of protecting children, complying with court orders, North Carolina Child Welfare Statues and laws, Federal Child Welfare Statues and Laws as well as meet the expectations of the county and agency. Due to the nature of child protective services, the employee is required to be knowledgeable about all tasks and expectations within child welfare services and may be expected to peform tasks/responsibilites in other areas of child welfare.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of NC Laws, and policies under which program operates.
  • Knowledge and experience with the judicial system.
  • Ability to teach, plan, organize, and schedule management functions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of social work administration, including a broad knowledge of child welfare services.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience;or a bachelor's degree in social work from an appropirately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a Master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree and four years of directly related experience;or a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience;or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
