Job Summary Middle Park High School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate Social Studies and Woodshop teacher to join our team. This teacher will support students in developing an understanding of history, government, geography, and civic responsibility while also providing hands-on instruction in woodworking and technical skills. The ideal candidate will foster critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application of knowledge. Students will engage in both classroom-based learning and project-based experiences in the woodshop, helping them build skills that support college, career, and life readiness.

Requirements

  • Appropriate Colorado teaching license required; endorsement in Social Studies, Industrial Arts, or related field preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong time management and organizational skills, are necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching social studies, woodworking, industrial arts, or project-based courses is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing lesson plans aligned with state standards
  • Preparing and delivering instruction
  • Creating and supervising student activities and projects
  • Adapting instruction to meet individual learning needs
  • Evaluating student performance
  • Maintaining classroom and shop safety
  • Maintaining classroom records
  • Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members
  • Participating in campus events
  • Possess knowledge of current instructional pedagogy
  • Create a classroom and shop environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Establish and communicate clear learning outcomes for lessons, classwork, and projects
  • Support the program of study using a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and technology
  • Promote safe and responsible use of tools, materials, and equipment in the woodshop
  • Serve as a model for the district’s mission, vision, and goals
  • Analyze and use appropriate data to guide instruction and develop assessments
