Anticipated Opening for 2026-2027 Social Studies Teacher Perry High School Job Title: Social Studies Teacher Location: Perry High School Position Available: August 1, 2026 Compensation: Per Perry Classroom Teachers Association negotiated agreement Description : The Perry Local Schools desires to employ an Ohio licensed teacher to serve as a high school social studies teacher. The successful candidate will plan, teach, and report learning of social studies curriculum and design community challenges in which students learn the content and life skills through real-world situations with community partners. The candidate will participate in the Design Thinking process for teaching through the District's Standards-based Learning opportunities and will also meet regularly with grade-level and PLC teachers to continually improve instruction, assessment, and reach student interests and learning needs. The candidate will possess strong classroom management skills and be able to implement research-based instructional strategies with a deep understanding of the enduring understandings of the Ohio Learning Standards and Formative Instructional Practices.

Requirements

  • Valid Ohio licensure is required for working with high school students, which may include: Comprehensive Social Studies 7-12 Adolescent to Young Adult Social Studies 7-12 Integrated Social Studies 7-12, or a combination of multiple specific subject area disciplines.
  • The successful candidate will be an advocate for student-centered learning
  • use authentic problems to deeply learn content
  • implement formative assessment practices
  • possess strong content knowledge
  • experience teaching social studies.
  • Evidence of successful completion of Praxis I or II examinations is required, if applicable.
