About The Position

Primary Objective: To plan and deliver a program of instruction that meets students’ needs, is consistent with good practice, and fulfills the expectations criteria for teachers as identified in the Webster Groves School District teacher evaluation tool.

Requirements

Strong instructional skills
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to set up and support a positive learning and teaching environment
Bachelor’s Degree required
Requires Missouri teacher certification in Social Studies (6-8)

Responsibilities

Teach subject area according to curriculum guidelines specified by the school district
Maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students
Collaborate with other faculty in the delivery of proper instructional approaches, working to serve the various learning styles and needs
Implement curriculum and instruction in a way consistent with District's mission statement
Show empathy for and understanding of students. Respect for all students
Share ideas and observations with students, parents, and colleagues
Develop with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity
Facilitate resolution of problems that might arise involving students or parents
Assess student performance often and objectively
Continue intellectual and professional development in primary academic discipline
Follow guidance and policies established by the Board of Education
Ability to set up and support a positive learning and teaching environment
Other duties as assigned
