Under the general supervision of the school principal, the teacher is to develop students’ skills and knowledge in math. Essential Functions: • Creates an equitable learning environment for all students that fosters empathy and understanding • Teach subject area according to curriculum guidelines specified by the school district • Maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students • Collaborate with other faculty in delivery of proper instructional approaches, working to serve the various learning styles and needs • Implement curriculum and instruction in a way consistent with District's mission statement • Show empathy for and understanding of students • Share ideas and observations with students, parents and colleagues • Develop with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity • Facilitate resolution of problems that might arise involving students or parents • Assess student performance often and objectively • Continue intellectual and professional development • Follow guidance and policies established by the Board of Education • Incorporates innovative and creative lessons, instructional methods, and learning experiences that help students feel successful and confident in their math abilities • Is aware of the needs of adolescent learners and has the ability to authentically engage them in learning • Ability to make complex math content meaningful, accessible, and relevant to all learners • Perform other duties as assigned
