About The Position

Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center is located in LaGrange, Kentucky and performs competency evaluations for persons in Kentucky. It is the only forensic hospital in the state, serving all 120 counties. The team has a 37.50-hour work week and includes health insurance, life insurance, paid leave and retirement benefits. The center is looking for a Social Service Clinician I who possesses the skills, knowledge, and desire to be part of their Social Services team.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, marriage and family therapy or a related field.
  • Must have one year of professional social work experience.
  • A bachelor's degree supplemented by three years of professional social work experience will substitute for the primary education and experience requirements.
  • If employed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services or the Department of Juvenile Justice, an employee in this job classification must furnish to the appointing authority within one month of employment, documentation that he/she possesses a valid driver's license.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced knowledge of Social Work programs and provides intensive services through the assessment of patients' needs and the provision of services at Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center (KCPC).
  • Reviews and analyzes cases of a complex nature and implements treatment and collaboration with treatment teams. Completes biopsychological evaluations.
  • Provides therapeutic counseling for individuals housed at KCPC. Coordinates group therapy sessions and learning experiences for KCPC patients.
  • Participates on inter-disciplinary team to provide collaborative care to patients.
  • Completes court reports, testifies at competency hearings and testifies in other court proceedings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
