Course: Social Problems This course provides a survey of the various issues and problems faced by contemporary American society, including crime, drug abuse, sexual variance, poverty, overpopulation, and family relations. Emphasis is placed upon how these problems arise from and are perpetuated by modern social structure.
Requirements
- Minimum: Master’s in Sociology OR Social Work
- Exceptions may be granted to individuals with a Master's in any field possessing 18 graduate credits in Sociology and substantial work/teaching experience
- Your unofficial transcript reflecting degree earned with 18 graduate credit hours in the areas listed above
- Your unofficial transcripts for any applicable conferred graduate degrees

- Preferred: PhD in Sociology OR Social Work
Responsibilities
- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
- Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
- Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
