About The Position

A permanent position under the supervision of the Senior Director of Public Affairs. This position manages the university's social media presence and works closely with the Senior Director of Public Affairs to develop and maintain a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with Cameron University’s goals. This includes creating a content calendar, scheduling social media posts across various platforms, such as (including, but not limited to) Facebook and Instagram to expand Cameron’s online presence and grow Cameron’s online audience in a positive manner. Job duties as Social Media Coordinator include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience in marketing, communications or related field.
  • Proven experience in social media management, including content creation, platform management and audience engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Accurate and comprehensive writing skills as well as good communication skills.
  • Experience using computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Photoshop and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, make solid judgment and problem-solve.
  • Ability to self-manage and identify areas of need and complete day-to-day activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing or communications.
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and analytics to boost content visibility and measure performance effectively.
  • Proven experience with social media management tools, such as Hootsuite and Buffer, are essential.
  • Video editing and photography.

Responsibilities

  • Creating online content that engages our audience in a positive manner and encourages interaction.
  • Fostering relationships with the online community by responding to comments, messages and feedback to build a loyal following.
  • Monitoring key performance metrics and analyze effectiveness of social media campaigns.
  • Refining strategies and report on social media return on investment (ROI).
  • Staying current on social media trends and platform changes to ensure Cameron University remains relevant and competitive with the social media environment.
  • Working with other campus departments to ensure cohesive brand messaging and execution of social media strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
