Why We're Hiring This is a freelance role with a set 30 hours per week. Candidates should be self-motivated, able to work autonomously, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams in a hybrid environment. Working Days & Hours: Monday through Friday, 10am to 4pm PST with occasional weekends.

Requirements

  • Proven Social Commerce Experience: Execution and strategy across major social platforms for a media or retail brand.
  • E-commerce Fluency: Deep understanding of social-driven product storytelling, sales funnels, and integrated launches.
  • Content Creation Skills: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, CapCut, and Airtable. Must be comfortable editing and publishing independently.
  • Strong Analytical Abilities: Able to track, interpret, and report on performance metrics to optimize content.
  • Collaboration Excellence: Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams including editorial, e-commerce, marketing, and influencer managers.
  • Strategic Creativity: Ability to pitch, plan, and produce content that drives both discovery and sales, with an editorial and shopper lens.
  • Trend Sensitivity: Keeps up with social, retail, and tech trends to stay ahead of what resonates.
  • Multi-Platform Expertise: Strong knowledge of how to optimize for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/X, Pinterest, and emerging platforms.
  • Autonomy & Accountability: Must be able to independently manage schedules, hit posting deadlines, and respond swiftly to time-sensitive needs.

Responsibilities

  • Content Planning Collaborate with the Senior Social Editor to execute social commerce and retail content plans across core Complex verticals—Music, Style, Sports, Sneakers. Support alignment between editorial, e-commerce, and social strategies across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels.
  • Content Creation & Strategic ExecutionPartner with creative and marketing teams to deliver shoppable, platform-optimized content with authentic product integrations that drive both audience engagement and conversion. Participate in and support social-first video production, including on-camera appearances when needed, bringing a natural and relatable presence to content. Post autonomously across multiple platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.), ensuring brand tone, quality, and consistency are maintained at all times. Demonstrate a strong ability to follow rollout schedules, publishing content on time and adjusting or taking down posts quickly and efficiently when needed.
  • Cross-Functional CollaborationCoordinate closely with editorial, e-commerce, and marketing teams to ensure content alignment and visibility across departments. Regularly interface with leadership and platform stakeholders to support key initiatives.
  • Platform OptimizationIdentify growth opportunities across social commerce ecosystems to increase engagement, drive sales, and scale audience development.
  • Additional Responsibilities Schedule and publish content on time using tools like Later, or native publishing platforms. Tag products accurately to facilitate a seamless shoppable experience. Remove or revise posts as needed based on real-time developments. Act quickly and decisively in dynamic content situations (e.g., trends, platform changes, urgent edits).
