Assignments are located throughout the City of Buffalo and Lackawanna. Locations are based on openings and availability and may differ day to day. Candidates should have availability to travel to any of our job sites. This role is part-time approximately 6-8 hours per week. Overview The Soccer Assistant Coach-Mentor will assist with coaching youth in grades K-8 through a non-competitive, youth development program to help children establish healthy habits and develop critical life skills. The Assistant Coach-Mentor will help run practices and games based on the provided social emotional curriculum.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of soccer, sports, or youth development preferred.
  • Passion for urban education, health education, youth development and sports.
  • Excellent people skills in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with staff, site coordinators, parents, and players.
  • Ability to motivate others around you and work as part of a team.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship.
  • Must have access to reliable means of transportation.
  • Proven examples of displaying the IH values: Passionate, Caring, Respectful, Trustworthy, Collaborative and Accountable.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all required trainings prior to coaching and stay in compliance with certifications including but not limited to U.S. Foundation Curriculum training, CDC Heads Up Concussion training and SafeSport training.
  • Assist with soccer practices three times per week for 75 minutes each day, for a 10-12- week session.
  • Prepare for and ensure understanding of curriculum for each practice session.
  • Attend all special events (End of Season Party, etc.).
  • Communicate regularly with Site Manager and Program Manager(s).
  • Abide by organizational guidelines, schedules, and site policies.
  • Be active on Sling, reading all pertinent updates, clocking in and out, and communicating with your site group.
  • Provide motivating and encouraging environment for players.
  • Assist with data gathering, as requested.
  • Assist with bringing equipment to and from location as needed.
