About The Position

The Sober Living House Manager, under the supervision of the Sober Living House Manager Supervisor, supports members residing in The Haven’s sober living housing by enforcing established rules and regulations while fostering a safe, structured, and supportive treatment environment. Drawing on their lived experience in recovery, the Sober Living House Manager builds meaningful, trusting relationships with members and serves as a positive role model of successful, sustained recovery. This role requires a high level of compassion, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills, to effectively engage and support individuals throughout their recovery journey. The Sober Living House Manager promotes a “Recovery with Respect” approach that emphasizes self-direction and empowerment. Support is provided through peer engagement, personal assistance, education on community resources, facilitation of educational classes, and connection to additional supportive services. The Haven endorses a trauma-informed care approach and follows a medical model of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, both of which guide the work of this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age upon hire
  • Must attest to having 1 year of continued sobriety.
  • Must be certified as a Peer and Recovery Support Specialist
  • Must have an Arizona Level-1, Non-IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card upon hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Must have current CPR and First Aid Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be insurable under The Haven’s insurance policy
  • Excellent communication and customer services skills required
  • Must possess competent computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to present ideas effectively, in both oral and written form
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative and professional team.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with members, employees, and external stakeholders.
  • Must be Familiar with 12-step program and other related support groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in behavioral health is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete housing agreement and all required paperwork with new members
  • Review Program and House Rules with all new members and ensure member compliance with house rules.
  • Orient new members to sober living home and complete orientation checklist.
  • Welcome and introduce new members to all existing members.
  • Assign household chores to members.
  • Monitor member rooms for cleanliness.
  • Prepare bedrooms for all new residents entering into Homes (i.e., clean linens, dresser drawers, bedroom cleanliness, etc).
  • Ensure that members have the items that they need (i.e., linen, hygiene products, clean clothes, etc.).
  • Maintain inventory of all household supplies and request restock as needed (i.e., cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, furniture, etc).
  • Maintain the first aid kit and naloxone supplies and request restock as needed.
  • Assign household chores to members.
  • Monitor member rooms for cleanliness.
  • Ensure that all members are properly respecting and maintaining common areas (esp., kitchen, living room, bathroom).
  • Ensure members are following house rules, including curfew/lights-out rules.
  • Facilitate weekly House Meetings and report any areas of concern to treatment team and supervisor.
  • Observe and report any unusual behaviors or potential areas of conflict between members to treatment teams and supervisor.
  • Assist with discharge planning from the sober living home and complete all discharge procedures on the day of discharge.
  • Assist in monitoring the property to protect it from damage and/or theft and routine maintenance.
  • Serve as point of contact for member complaints or concerns and report issues to appropriate parties.
  • Serve as a point of contact for surrounding neighborhood for complaints or concerns and report issues to appropriate parties.
  • Report any concerns related to the building structure, appliances, or other household equipment to Facilities Department
  • Report all health and safety concerns to Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Department.
  • Complete all required member documentation in the electronic medical record within established timelines.
  • Communicate in a culturally sensitive manner, as our member population is diverse.
  • Participate with other team members and the member in the development of a person-centered treatment plan that includes recovery goals, transitional services, family/natural supports, and continued recovery in the community.
  • Work with individuals in their assigned program to navigate and use community resources to seek employment and stable housing.
  • Facilitate groups and classes including Peer Support, Skills Training and Pre-Job Training & Development
  • Relate personal recovery process in a positive manner to collaborate with members in seeking community resources, recovery related referrals, and ongoing support in the community.
  • Work to build a community of both members and staff that is supportive and conducive to patient growth and recovery.
  • Assists in the creation and implementation of social activities and help create a positive environment for everyone.
  • Teach independent living, social and communication skills to individuals to maximize the person’s ability to live and participate in the community and function independently.
  • Functions as a member of the treatment team by participating in team meetings and making contributions to discussions and treatment planning.
  • Assist with transportation to and from The Haven clinic as needed.
  • Complete all tasks in a timely manner based on time frames established by The Haven and/or other regulating entities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of recovery, relapse prevention, and community resources.
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all staff.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with members at all times
  • Attend meetings and training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
