The Service Manager role is responsible for all Steel Mill service operations in the designated region. This position will require travel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in refractory sales or industrial manufacturing (preferably steelmaking).
  • Prior experience supervising a work group.
  • Significant knowledge and experience in sales and marketing, customer service, and business acumen.
  • Good leadership, management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, English speaking, Closing Skills, Motivation for Sales, Prospecting Skills, Sales Planning, Selling to Customer Needs, Market Knowledge, Presentation Skills, Energy Level, Meeting Sales Goals, Professionalism.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering or related field.
  • Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of standing, walking, climbing steps, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as being in a dusty, dirty industrial environment.
  • Must be able to gather organize, and analyze data, draw conclusions, and handle stress.
  • Must wear safety equipment where required.
  • Travel is a requirement of the position.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must wear all required safety gear.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all safety requirements of the Steel Mill Service force
  • Managing shop operations, including overseeing the functions of the SMS group (safety, performance management, equipment maintenance, parts, material inventory and payroll).
  • Drives Operational Excellence
  • Identifying and implementing key metrics outlined by the business unit
  • Financial performance of Field Operations including Steel Mill Service cost control
  • Provide monthly reporting on Field Operations
  • Developing close working relationship with entire customer base and MINTEQ departments, and fully understanding their requirements
  • Provide staffing for projects and material trials
  • Works closely with HR on company policies and union contracts
  • Other duties, as assigned
