The TRUMPF Smart Factory in Hoffman Estates, IL, is TRUMPF´s leading demonstration facility for fully automated material flow and production. In this innovative, fully connected factory we use state-of-the-art technologies to make Autonomous Manufacturing a reality already today. The Operations Engineer is essential to our success in the Smart Factory. He/She is responsible for running and setting-up our automated cutting, bending and punching equipment, working closely with the different Application teams. Order management, programming, and general maintenance of equipment is also a vital part of this role. Welcome to the Smart Factory! Machine Operation & Demonstration Setup and operate TRUMPF laser, punch, and press brake equipment for production and customer demos. Inspect parts using calipers, pin gauges, and other tools to ensure dimensional accuracy. Prepare parts for shipping, including packing, wrapping, and coordinating logistics. Work closely with other teams to provide best in class experiences for all visitors to the TRUMPF Smart Factory. Load/unload material and finished parts, operating forklifts and other tools as needed. Customer Coordination & Production Create orders, record job status and scrap quantities in TRUMPF’s Manufacturing Execution System “Oseon”. Estimate, schedule, and monitor production orders, while providing feedback on part designs to improve cost and process efficiency. Develop nests and programs using TRUMPF software tools for laser cutting, punching, and bending. Consult with customers for clarifications, drawings, and pricing to ensure alignment with production capabilities. Lead and support lean manufacturing activities and improve product/information flow by implementing standardized procedures, structures and reports. General Maintenance & Logistics Perform basic preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime. Support shopfloor organization through cleaning, scrap removal, shipping/receiving, and participation in continuous improvement activities (5S, TPM). Follow safety procedures, maintain standards, and report hazards to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
