Essential Functions: Maintains and grows a profitable portfolio of new and renewal small business within assigned territory and underwriting authority, aligned with EMC’s Small Business Underwriting Strategy. Prioritizes and organizes workload to balance quality, efficiency, and responsiveness, ensuring service level agreements are met while supporting business and agency needs. Applies knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, rating plans, and underwriting guidelines in the selection and pricing of individual risks. Ensures adequate pricing through proper classification and makes data driven decisions in managing accounts. Prioritizes and organizes workload to balance quality, efficiency, and responsiveness, ensuring service level agreements are met while supporting business and agency needs. Builds and maintains agency relationships across the territory, focusing on high‑potential small business agencies to support profitable growth and market objectives. Delivers timely, high‑quality customer experiences, consistently meeting service commitments. Collaborates with sales and other business units to ensure consistency of communications and service. Actively engages assigned agencies to generate new business, provide essential training support, and build relationships. Advances underwriting proficiency by staying current on best practices, coverage forms, rating plans, and guidelines, while engaging in industry‑specific training to build deeper insight into the small business marketplace Engages in agency planning and review activities alongside sales and business unit partners, monitoring assigned agents’ progress and providing actionable feedback to help achieve annual objectives. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree, preferably in insurance or business administration, or equivalent relevant experience One year of experience in commercial lines underwriting or related experience Insurance designations, such as CPCU, CIC, or AU preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions Strong customer service skills Ability to work effectively with others, as well as independently Ability to maintain high standards of professional competence Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media Ability to work on multiple projects while meeting deadlines Occasional travel; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following: $60,813 - $84,038 or $67,200 - $92,395 A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
