Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, in Birmingham AL, is looking for a Slitter Set-up. This position reports to the production supervisor and plant manager. Slitter set-up is responsible for performing tasks necessary for the production of slit coils that meet the requirements for the mill.

Requirements

• Mechanical Experience
• Computer Knowledge (SAP)
• Basic Math Skills
• Ability to use hand held measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
• Overhead Crane License
• Hi-Lo License
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time to cover shift.
• Bend, Twist, Stoop, Sit, Kneel, Crawl, push and pull.
• Able to reach in all directions.
• Other physical requirements as needed for the job.

Responsibilities

• Follow workplace safety practices set forth by Atlas Tube Inc. Policy
• Follow verbal and written instructions
• Perform daily crane/hi-lo inspections and report any deficiencies
• Operate overhead crane and hi-lo as required
• Move master coils to area using an overhead crane
• Perform width and gauge checks to ensure material is correctly slit
• Prepare master coil for slitting
• Operate entry equipment
• Assist in slitter change over
• Move slitter heads during change over
• Open, build and close slitter heads
• Remove scrap as required
• Complete all required paperwork
• Perform daily preventative maintenance
• Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance
• Assist maintenance in making repairs
• Assist other operators when required during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role.
