About The Position

The Slide Attendant position is a part time position. The position is responsible for operating the water slides and enforcing associated rules. The Slide Attendant will be required to have excellent customer service, problem-solving skills, and must support and contribute toward the Mission Statement and Goals and Objectives of the Oak Lawn Park District.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to obtain
  • Ability to relate to staff and patrons in a positive manner that represents our agency.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.
  • Communication and organizational skills
  • Must have decision-making skills
  • Must be able to take initiative with job tasks and multi-task
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 5-20 hours per week
  • Must be able to work in environments with various temperatures, including high heat and high humidity
  • To be able to sub or work longer shifts when necessary
  • Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work a varied schedule as required
  • Ability to work with staff and patrons in a relaxed and friendly manner.
  • Ability to stay attentive for long periods of time
  • To be able to multitask during busy peak hours
  • Capacity to be self-motivated and achieve goals with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Capacity to proactively troubleshoot, problem solve, and make sound judgments with respect to confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow staff and the public, both verbally and in writing.
  • An employee must have the ability to follow and give directions
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess time management and organization skills to effectively perform his/her job.
  • Must have the ability to make judgments with confidentiality of information and problem-solving.
  • Employee must use good safety awareness and judgment in all aspects of this position.
  • Must have the ability to support and work toward the Mission Statement, Goals, and Objectives of the Oak Lawn Park District.

Responsibilities

  • Operating the top of the water slides.
  • Enforce water slide rules to ensure the safety of patrons.
  • Ensure the safety of the patrons by enforcing the rules of the facility.
  • Assist in cleaning the facility.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor to ensure the facility is clean and safe for the patrons and staff.
  • Participate in community activities and work the July 4th event.
  • Resolve issues and problems with good judgment and in the best interests of the Patrons and the Park District.
  • Report damaged or hazardous materials or situations
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor as deemed necessary and appropriate under your position.
