About The Position

Children’s Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States, providing care exclusively to children from before birth through young adulthood. It is an independent, not-for-profit system since 1924, serving kids throughout the Upper Midwest at two free-standing hospitals, nine primary care clinics, multiple specialty clinics, and seven rehabilitation sites. Children’s Minnesota is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top children’s hospital and by Modern Healthcare as one of 2023’s Top Diversity Leaders. The specialized department provides attended diagnostic testing services related to respiration control, sleep staging, and esophageal pH recordings. The St. Paul location hosts the only diagnostic sleep lab in the upper mid-west dedicated solely to pediatric patients, ranging from pre-term infants to young adults with special needs. This sleep lab is nationally accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, being one of fewer than 10 fully accredited pediatric sleep laboratories in the United States. This position involves a wide variety of important responsibilities concerning infant, pediatric, and young adult diagnostic testing, directly impacting patient care by focusing on obtaining diagnoses and/or therapy options for referring physicians. The role requires close interaction with Sleep Disorder Providers, Sleep Psychology, nursing staff, patients, families, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Current BLS certification.
  • RPSGT obtained within 2 years of employment.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Sleep Technology School or hold a qualifying allied health credential approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric experience.
  • Preferred allied health/professional credentials such as RT, RN, EMT, EEG.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of important responsibilities regarding infant, pediatric and young adult diagnostic testing.
  • Focus on obtaining a diagnosis and/or therapy options for referring physicians.
  • Interface closely with Sleep Disorder Providers, Sleep Psychology, nursing staff, patient and families and others both inside and outside the hospital.
  • Perform Polysomnograms (inpatient and outpatient).
  • Perform CPAP/BiLevel titrations.
  • Perform Oxygen titrations.
  • Perform seizure montages.
  • Perform impedance pH testing.
  • Provide HST education and set up.
  • Perform EKGs (inpatient and outpatient).
  • Score 4 channel studies for both inpatient and outpatients.
  • Conduct Sleep Lab tours.
  • Perform Multiple Sleep Latency Testing.
  • Cross Campus work may be required.
