The Sleep Medicine physician will provide direct patient care to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. This responsibility includes the provision of and attention to the care of major and minor illnesses related to sleep. Receives administrative support from a Practice Manger. Instill the IMS mission, vision and values in the work performed.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience: One year of post full licensure experience in the practice of medicine or osteopathic medicine
Possession of a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in Arizona
Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures
Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion
Must have knowledge of and follow HIPA guidelines and secure Protected Health Information at all times
Must be able to perform CPR on infants, children, and adults without assistance
The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

Responsibilities

Assess health status of pediatric, adolescent, or adult patients through health history, taking physical examination and diagnostic tests
Develop and implement plans for providing treatment related to sleep disorders
Perform minor outpatient procedures with IMS credentialing privileging policy. Including but not limited to: o Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) o Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) o Polysomnograms (PSG) o Split PSG
Assess patient needs and arrange for specialty referrals, diagnostic and in-patient care and make appropriate referrals for service
Responsible for documenting patient information and visit information into IMS' Electronic Health Record in an accurate and timely manner
Provide patients and family members with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and need for follow up as appropriate during each patient visit. Verify and document that the patient understands diagnosis, treatment and follow up recommendations
Provide consultation to nurse clinicians and nurse practitioners
Renders care to patients in accordance with quality and standards as are established by IMS, the standards of care prevailing in the community, applicable law, and according to state and federal grant requirements for non-discrimination regardless of status, race, sex, religion, national origin, handicap, age, or ability to pay
Reads sleep tests and provide follow up care for patients based on their test results
Provides compliance visits to patients on DME such as CPAP
Provide patient care via telehealth when applicable
Perform other duties as assigned
