About The Position

A Sleep Center Assistant working in the Sleep Center is a supportive role working under the supervision of a Registered Sleep Technologist (RPSGT). This role will serve in both a clinical and administrative role. Patient scheduling, registration, and guiding patients through the process of taking a home sleep study kit home. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must maintain CPR or BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant Certification or certification in any other healthcare, patient care, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in patient care or sleep studies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • PATIENT REGISTRATION AND INFORMATION GATHERING Complete and verify all necessary documentation for patient registration and insurance verification.
  • Assist with Prior Authorizations as needed Explain the home sleep study (HSAT) procedure to patients, ensuring they are comfortable and informed about the equipment and process.
  • Prepare patient documents and assist with maintenance of Sleep Center procedures Complete patient appointment reminder calls and mailings
  • HOME SLEEP STUDY PREPARATION Set up and calibrate home sleep study equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Clean, maintain, and prepare all equipment in accordance with infection control standards and guidelines.
  • Document equipment usage for inventory management and quality control purposes.
  • HOME SLEEP STUDY DELIVERY Gathers and Analyzes Patient Information Reviews history, physical information, medications, procedure requests, and study protocol.
  • Completes patient registration and verifies patient insurance Explains the procedure and orients the patient to the home sleep study equipment.
  • SERVICE MANAGEMENT AND COMPLIANCE Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines related to patient safety, infection control, and professional ethics.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inventory evaluations of sleep study equipment.
  • Reports issues to Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills while interacting with patients and staff.
  • Provide support to patients during the home sleep study process, responding to inquiries and offering assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the sleep center team to ensure a high standard of patient care and operational efficiency.
