About The Position

The purpose of a skin out laminator is to apply a protective layer of fiberglass to molds, ensuring a smooth and durable finish. A Skin Out Laminator plays a crucial role in creating durable and high-quality fiberglass products, contributing significantly to the efficiency and quality of the manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • Precision in handling materials and following complex instructions.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to troubleshoot and adapt to new situations.
  • Capability to stand for long periods and handle physical tasks.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent level of training
  • One or more years of experience in general labor
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Employees in safety-sensitive positions must report to work fit for duty and must remain fit for duty throughout their workday.
  • To be fit for duty, the employee must not be impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or medication.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare molds and select appropriate fiberglass material.
  • Cut fiberglass materials to specified dimensions.
  • Mix resins and catalysts in the correct proportion.
  • Apply resin-soaked fiberglass onto mold surfaces.
  • Use rollers and brushes to remove air pockets and ensure a smooth, even coat.
  • Inspect finished products for defects and make necessary repairs.
  • Maintain equipment and clean work areas.
