Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Day Shift Laminator Operator for our Minneapolis, MN plant.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to use simple arithmetic including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication, and the use of fractions and measurements within ¼ of an inch.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Must be able to repetitively lift and carry a maximum of 50 lbs. from one location of the plant to another using proper equipment provided.
  • Must be able to visually inspect rolls for quality and/or correct labeling.
  • Must be able to climb, crawl and bend over/under equipment to make necessary machine control adjustments.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to communicate orally, in writing and on the computer to fulfill job orders in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must have good manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform the above-mentioned activities.

Responsibilities

  • Read schedule, noting all instructions, supervisor instructions and specifications before beginning setup cycle.
  • Must also comply with general plant safety requirements, including but not limited to lockout/tagout (Do Not Touch procedures), safe lifting and material handling practices and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Move product in and out of work area, operators must be certified to operate forklift/clamp truck.
  • Setup and run the laminator at optimum speed and maintaining quality product per assigned schedule
  • Inspects paper/poly prior to and after each set to assure quality (following the SOP for each machine for details on what and when to inspect).
  • Follow written quality procedures such as recycling cores, poly seals, and dyne levels.
  • Inspect machine during shift and notifies management of minor or major equipment failure.
  • Responsible for full compliance with safety and housekeeping; work in a safe manner; communicate all pertinent information to his/her relief during shift change. Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP’s, work instructions, Job Safety Analysis and Food Safety Quality system requirements (SQF) are in compliance.
