About The Position

The Skilled Service Technician provides necessary building maintenance to maintain the hospital’s buildings and when necessary to repair, replace, and sometimes construct hospital properties and their content to provide a livable and workable environment for employees, patients, and the community served. In order to complete assigned duties, the Skilled Service Technician will have access to all clinical and non-clinical departments including locked medication rooms on nursing units.

Requirements

  • HVAC License or Plumbing License or Electrician Journeyman or equivalent Certification/License OR Associates degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Five (5) years of appropriate experience, (Armed Forces training, Training Program in industry could qualify), in one or more specialty areas of heating ventilation, air conditioning, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, construction.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of technical school training in trades.
  • Pool operations certified (COP).
  • Hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and follows correct chain of command in handling challenges and issues, including crisis situations.
  • Assumes responsibility by ensuring continued professional growth of self, attending formal and/or informal educational/professional activities.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize time and tasks to achieve a well-coordinated work effort and to effectively meet work schedules including an ability to integrate multiple factors which may have an impact on patient care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to follow/attendance/punctuality/time card system/scheduling policies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of parking/hospital department locations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and adheres to dress code.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of CCMC Compliance Program/Code of Conduct/Confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of CCMC Emergency Management Plan
  • Demonstrates knowledge of physical health/wellness information and Exposure Control Plan
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Office/workplace safety.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Risk Management/Occurrence Report Practices/Non-punitive Work Environment.
  • Maintain established department and hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environment, infection and hazardous material control.
  • Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and maintains a safe environment.
  • Familiar with tools, identification and use, related building codes and general mechanical repairs.
  • Able to perform quality work with minimum of instruction and supervision.
  • Knowledge of tools, identification and use, related building codes, general mechanical repairs, machine operations and preventative maintenance.
  • Must be capable of following verbal and written instructions, sketches, communicate and direct others in the project.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with patients, visitors and staff.
