About The Position

Skilled Maintenance Worker assembles, repairs and Pms various types of furniture, small appliances and equipment. Repairs minor utility system components and performs duties required to complete the Pms in compliance with department established PM program procedures, utilizing diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, blueprints and manufacturer’s specifications using hand and power tools and various measurements and test instruments. Along with performing electrical, plumbing HVAC and carpentry duties received through the work order process. Primarily day shift (as early as 6:00am) with evening shifts also (starting at 2:00pm) with weekend and holiday rotation. Pay based on experience starting at $16.94 per hour

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Acts as security officer by responding quickly and efficiently to emergent situations and notifying police as needed, etc.
  • Assists or performs record keeping duties as required to maintain compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and repair components for shop.
  • Assists skilled trades people in the performance of PM work, repair work or projects as needed.
  • Inspects, maintains and repairs a variety of small electrical appliances, mechanical equipment and mechanical devices along with Boiler System and Steam Quality Testing.
  • Performs minor carpentry and painting repairs and touchups on furniture or building structures.
  • Inspects, maintains and repairs minor components of utility systems. This includes systems such as electrical, plumbing, medical gases and nurses call systems. Work is typically limited to end points or final components of the systems.
  • Monitor and provide testing daily for low pressure and high pressure Boiler systems. This includes daily chemical testing to see if chemicals need to be adjusted to provide the quality of steam that is required for central sterile.
  • Opens locked offices, desks, file cabinets, lockers, and cabinets throughout the Hospital.
  • Performs general grounds maintenance activities using power and manual equipment i.e. mowing grass, weed eating, landscaping, picking up litter, and snow removal.
  • Performs repairs on doors. Includes passage, smoke, control and fire doors (including closing and latching mechanisms).
  • Performs the duties required to complete the assigned PM procedure. This includes the specific tasks defined as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting as established in the department’s Room PM program procedures.
  • Repairs, replaces and sets up locks for doors, file cabinets, lockers, desks and cabinets throughout the Hospital. Repairs, replaces and sets up door cylinders for keying. Cuts and labels keys for the Hospital as well as satellites if needed. Responsible for maintenance and repair of combination change on electronic and manual locks.
  • Repairs, replaces and sets up panic hardware and door closures, electric and manual.
  • Transports equipment, supplies and materials using various methods such as carrying/lifting, wheeled carts and power equipment utilizing personal vehicle
