About The Position

The Skilled Companion Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and planning Skilled Companion placements. This role works collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure a smooth transition and successful placement of dogs selected for the Skilled Companion program. The Coordinator matches and places dogs with approved Skilled Companion applicants across the country.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of canine health and basic canine skills training.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Computer literacy needed.
  • Valid driver's license required with good driving history.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Superior communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic).
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Good judgment in decision making.
  • Managing a team of volunteers and the ability to train and manage those volunteers and delegate tasks effectively to them.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships.
  • The ability to accept constructive criticism.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before members of the public, volunteers, and other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to perform calculations in standard measures of American currency and weight, volume and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram/chart, or schedule form.
  • Ability to use all aspects of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word as well as accessing e-mail and using Internet Explorer as a research tool.
  • Data entry and interpretation skills into multiple databases such as IWDR Provat, and others.
  • A valid and current driver's license and good driving record

Responsibilities

  • Act as key communicator between Dogs Inc and Skilled Companion applicants.
  • Actively participate in the assessment process of dogs that need to be evaluated for the Skilled companion program.
  • Continue ongoing training and evaluation of Skilled Companion’s
  • Maintain all necessary paperwork for Companion Placements.
  • Coordinate phone interviews and zoom calls with potential applicants.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Team Manager: Status of Skilled Companion Program placements, both completed and planned.
  • Create match release’s for Skilled Companion placements
  • Update/maintain status of career transfer dogs in IWDR in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with Admissions to resolve any concerns about applications in process.
  • Coordinate with Canine University for any required extended getaways during waiting periods.
  • Coordinate with Medical Department to schedule To-Go-Home exams in preparation for placement.
  • Coordinate with Puppy Raiser Services regarding placement and required information to provide to puppy raisers
  • Coordinate with Alumni Benefits to ensure proper Fromm benefit is provided for each placement.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to place Skilled Companion dogs throughout the country based on the needs of both Dogs Inc and Dogs Inc approved applicants.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Team Lead or the Director.
  • Willingness to assist with administrative responsibilities encompassing the entire Skilled Companion Program.
  • Abide by the company's confidentiality policy and adhere to it.
