About The Position

The purpose of this position is to contribute to membership sales and retention; to program and teach Learn to Skate and Advanced Skating programs; indirectly supervise the Skating Instructors while supporting the skating department and developing service enhancements. Create Your Path: The Work You’ll Do: Actively pursues membership sales and recruits members and guests into activities and events. Ensures membership retention, repeat daily guest usage, and referrals through a high level of member and guest service delivery and response. Plans, organizes, coordinates, promotes, evaluates and participates in skating instruction. Plans and organizes programming for Learn to Skate and Advanced Skating programs. Develops program goals, action plan and profit loss worksheet for each activity for approval by Manager, Ice Center within budgetary guidelines. Maintains an annual and quarterly programming calendar. Coordinates availability of facilities and equipment; staffing; awards and prizes; food and beverage; and waivers. Oversees the booking and usage of ice arena class schedules. Monitors activity sign up and ensures collection of fees. Promotes, monitors and evaluates programs. Maintains accurate records of class participation. Ensures service enhancements are developed and consistently offered by skating instructors. Coordinates, schedules and monitors all skating classes maintaining accurate records of class schedules, attendance sheets, and instructor substitutions. Regularly evaluates classes on format, class protocol, and student satisfaction. Responsible for testing procedures of skaters in all abilities. Manages the daily class activities by checking equipment, supplies, and allocating equipment to instructors. Supports all aspects of the skating instructor functions, including hiring and staffing, training and development, coaching, and communication

Requirements

  • 3 years as a skating instructor
  • Minimum of 1 year as a skating school director
  • Successfully passed a minimum of four U.S.F.S.A. test programs
  • Knowledge in comprehensive learn to skate program such as I.S.I.A. or U.S. F.S.A.
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology
  • C.P.R. and First Aid Certifications or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
