About The Position

The Sizer Operator position is responsible for operation of the sizing machines utilized by South Georgia Pecan Co. to screen pecan meats into particular size classifications. Reports Sizer Operator reports to the Production Manager

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operation of the LMC and SWECO Sizers.
  • Responsible loading product bins onto and taking away from sizing operation. This includes properly organizing bins prior to sizing and removing to correct location once sizing is complete. This position requires forklift operation.
  • Responsible for changing screens to meet size specifications of products being ran on the sizer.
  • Responsible for opening and closing bins to keep Sizers running efficiently.
  • Responsible for keeping screens of Sizers clean to prevent over run and off sizing.
  • Responsible for labeling bins using the bin traveler with correct product size and blown status.
  • Responsible for adjustments to cutting boxes and/or slicers to efficiently dice pecan meats to the correct size classification.
  • Responsible for checking rare earth magnets each shift and attaching each trailing to the control point check form. Management must be notified of any findings. This control point is part of the Food Safety Plan of South Georgia Pecan Co.
  • Responsible for checking the efficiency of the sized products to ensure proper screening.
  • Area around the sizing operation should remain clean and swept. If product gets on the floor, stop and clean it up and place in correct floor sweep bin.
  • Sizer screens being used and stored should be kept clean.
  • Cutter boxes and/or slicers must be kept clean and free of buildup.
  • Pre-operation inspections must be completed prior to machine start up.
  • Framework, catwalks, and stairs must be kept clean and free of debris.
  • Floor sweep bins must be emptied every shift.
  • Assist in any cleaning needed in the sizing area and/or in the plant as needed.
  • GMP’s are to be followed while working. Remember, you are working in a food plant and food safety is a top concern for South Georgia Pecan Company.
  • Hairnets and beard coverings are to be worn at all times within the plant
  • Wash and Sanitize hands before returning to work from the bathroom, breaks, lunch, or before entering the plant from outside.
  • No Eating or Drinking inside the plant
  • No Dipping, Chewing Tobacco, Smoking, or Chewing Gum within the plant.
  • No Jewelry within the plant. (Except for medical I.D. bracelets and smooth wedding bands without stones).
  • No false fingernails or eyelashes.
  • No fingernail polish or paint.
  • No open-toed shoes. Rubber soles are preferred.
  • No Hats
  • Exercise good hygiene.
  • If working in production areas, you must have on a clean uniform. All contractors must wear company issued shirts.
  • No open sores on exposed skin in production areas.
  • If sick, please notify management or supervisor and do not enter a production area.
  • Ensure production equipment is operating properly and no parts are missing.
  • Ensure product tools are properly stored, cleaned and sanitized prior to and after each break, lunch, and shift.
  • Ensure Good Housekeeping practices are applied.
  • All employees are responsible for food safety and quality.
  • Employees are responsible for reporting any food safety and quality problems to their supervisor, production manager and/or plant manager.
  • Employees are responsible for supporting the SQF system.
  • Safety of employees is a top priority for South Georgia Pecan Company and each employee needs to remember safety when preforming task of the Job.
