About The Position

Facility Services, Inc. (FSI) is seeking a qualified Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center. The SSHO is responsible for monitoring workplace activities to ensure the safety of FSI employees, clients, and subcontractors, while assuring compliance with company policies, federal regulations, and contract safety requirements. This role supports the implementation and enforcement of the Site-Specific Accident Prevention Plan and serves as the primary on-site safety authority.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30-hour training certificate or card
  • Ability to document 8 hours per year of formal safety & health training for the past five (5) years
  • Minimum five (5) years of continuous safety experience in general industry, construction, and/or O&M
  • Experience managing safety programs, conducting hazard analyses, and developing hazard controls
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • EM 385-1-1 training or experience
  • Experience in healthcare, hospital, or federal facility environments

Responsibilities

  • Support FSI’s mission of providing a safe and healthful workplace
  • Manage, implement, and enforce FSI safety and health programs and the Site-Specific Accident Prevention Plan
  • Conduct and document weekly toolbox safety meetings with site staff
  • Manage health and safety training to ensure employees understand site hazards and mitigation methods
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits; document deficiencies or unsafe acts using contract-required forms
  • Submit inspection findings to the Contract Maintenance Manager (CMM) for corrective action
  • Exercise authority to stop unsafe acts or conditions when immediate action is required
  • Ensure employee compliance with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Stay current with federal safety regulations and standards; communicate changes to employees
  • Validate and provide oversight for Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
  • Maintain frequent interaction with company leadership, facility management, and federal/state representatives
  • Lead mishap and incident investigations, identify root causes, and verify corrective action effectiveness
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs and coordinate reviews with the Corporate Health & Safety Officer (CHSO)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the CHSO or Project Manager
