About The Position

The role of the Site Quality Technician directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As a Site Quality Technician, you will work in conjunction with PM Operations on the implementation of corporate quality standards, operating procedures, training, internal auditing, and analytical technology across the site to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and product quality for the protection of our business.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred OR an equivalent combination of experience, technical training, and safety certifications.
  • 3+ years’ experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
  • Familiarity with technical standards and their application (ASTM, AWS, IEC, ISO standards).
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels including Nordex suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Experience in quality management/quality control processes.
  • ASQ Certified and Certified ISO auditor preferred.
  • Analytical skills – must be able to reach conclusions and make recommendations based on collected data.
  • Wind Turbine Assembly experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of MS office applications (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Follow oral and written instructions in English and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics to develop procedures, validate work activity, and ensure that risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, climb stairs, hearing ability to use close-range radios, visual acuity including depth perception, the field of vision and the ability to distinguish between colors, ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed, as well as hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to climb to heights of 60 to 130 meters and supervise work in confined space environments. Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • 90-100% travel required.
  • Working conditions are normal for a construction environment. Work may involve lifting materials and products up to 23kg (50 pounds). Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not be limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required with the ability to obtain a passport.
  • Due to safety equipment operational specifications, must meet the weight requirement of 120kg (265 lbs.) or less to safely utilize climbing equipment and climbing gear.
  • Must be able to work in Canada with no Company sponsorship and have the ability to obtain a valid passport.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
  • Ability to successfully complete all Canadian regulatory laws surrounding pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
  • Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ Certified and Certified ISO auditor preferred.
  • Wind Turbine Assembly experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as on-site subject matter expert regarding Nordex IMS
  • Applies standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation and provides input for continuous improvement of these standards.
  • Prepares reports for the Quality Lead, Site Manager and the Quality Manager summarizing the status of all quality issues and activities on site.
  • Trains contracted quality inspectors on-site and direct their day-to-day activities.
  • Perform and document process audits of all site activities ensuring documented process are followed.
  • Create Nonconformities for processes and materials found to deviate from instructions and specifications
  • Manage Nonconformities by updating with new information, communicating with Nordex Engineering, Repair teams and other involved with nonconformity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
