Position Summary: The Site Manager manages, operates, maintains, and improves buildings, grounds, and facilities year-round to support Girl Scout programming, the camper experience, and the council’s mission, while protecting the council’s assets. Reporting to the Director of Properties the Site Manager supports the overnight camp program, the staff led day camp program, Day Camp by Community program, troop camping and year-round events held at Camp Alice Chester. This role is vital to managing maintenance and capital improvement projects, providing customer service to all campers and ensuring the site is clean, healthy, safe, attractive and in good repair for all users.

Requirements

Associate degree or at least five years of experience in property, park, or camp management (or a related role with comparable scope and responsibility).
Knowledge of safety and security programs.
American Red Cross First Aid/CPR (or equivalent) certification preferred at time of hire; required within six months of hire date.
Ability and willingness to secure Food Handlers Certification – required within six months of hire date.
Knowledge of local and state licensing requirements and the American Camp Association site accreditation process.
Self-directed and self-disciplined while organizing, planning and implementing a multi-faceted workload with minimum supervision and as a member of a team.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and work effectively with staff and volunteers from diverse populations.
Display excellent time management skills and problem-solving ability.
Be adaptable and display good judgment and decision making.
Possess interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to responsive customer service.
Work independently with minimal supervision, while organizing, planning, and maintaining council assets.
Can work a flexible schedule, including extended summer hours, occasional evenings, and multiple weekends.
Ability to respond within 30 minutes to emergencies during off hours.
Occasional travel within the region is required.
A valid driver’s license and use of your own vehicle are preferred. If so, you must comply with the council’s automobile insurance policy limits and have a driving record that meets the requirements of the council’s business auto insurance carrier. If you are unable to drive, a transportation plan must be submitted and approved prior to an official offer being made.
Ability to safely operate, maintain, and inspect snow removal equipment, tractors, camp vehicles, and trailers.
Ability to safely operate and maintain power tools and equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, chain saws, carpentry saws, drills, generators, compressors, and welders).
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for two to four hours at a time and walk outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.
Can safely work on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs; and conduct visual inspections to identify maintenance and janitorial needs in alignment with GSWISE standards.
Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and joining as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a membership fee, either annually or as a life-time member.
Employees must frequently stand for extended periods of time and safely operate power tools manually.
The employee must be able to regularly lift up-to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Maintain buildings and grounds that are clean, healthy, and safe—supporting a positive Girl Scout experience—in accordance with GSUSA and Wisconsin Recreation/Education Code ATCP 78.
Provide responsive customer service and on-site support for campers, volunteers, and user groups, including pre-visit communication, resolving concerns, snow removal, and ensuring 24/7 coverage.
Be available to respond to camp staff or volunteer concerns or emergencies within thirty minutes.
Implement emergency procedures as needed to keep programs running safely and smoothly.
Coordinate site logistics and provide program support for Overnight Camp, staff led Day Camp and Day Camp by Community summer programming, ensuring the site is ready on time to deliver high-quality experiences for girls.
Manage property to maintain council assets in appreciable condition including capital budget projects and annual maintenance.
Implement the GSWISE Property Management System, including site inspections and annual work plans.
Manage resources (i.e. human, fiscal, natural, etc.) to meet council goals and objectives.
Contribute to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for girls, volunteers, and staff.
Provide customer services; develop and implement program support plans; conduct health and safety programs; and maintain buildings and grounds.
Operate the site to complement program delivery and scheduling.
Conduct annual facility inspections and develop annual work plans.
Maintain equipment records, facility portfolios, and 5- year replacement schedules.
Manage shop operations, grounds keeping, and snow removal in a safe and efficient manner.
Work flexible hours to meet program and property needs.
Respond to property related emergencies including storm clean-up, equipment failures, and customer crisis.
Coordinate site security and emergency procedures in conjunction with onsite Camp Directors.
Provide site and facility orientations to users.
Perform maintenance services such as painting, carpentry, equipment repair, plumbing, etc. commensurate to ability and job scope.
Direct and manage improvement projects.
Contribute to master plans, site designs, and project development.
Draft operational and capital budgets.
Procure bids for and manage capital projects.
Supervises staff and/or volunteers including recruitment, selection, placement, retention training, development.
Maintain usage records, confirm user reservations, and write reports, inspections, work summaries and time sheets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
