Learn more about our work at www.habitatskc.org . Your Impact: Responsible for hands-on construction work including framing, siding, window and door installation, flooring, painting, and finishing. Maintain site security and access. Coordinate Habitat’s work alongside subcontractors on the jobsite. Manage and appreciate working with skilled and unskilled volunteers at the worksite. Provide instruction, direction, and encouragement to Site Coordinators, volunteers, AmeriCorps, and partner families on building techniques and daily tasks. Maintain site safety through safe practices, documentation and ensure that all volunteers, partner families, staff, subcontractors, and AmeriCorps comply with worksite safety measures. Uphold and maintain quality standards of home construction and the project site. In coordination with the Director of Operations, Senior Site Manager and Project Manager, maintain a construction schedule to ensure the building timelines are met. Ensure accountability of materials and tools provided to the job site. Conduct safety meetings, job briefings, and project overviews. Update project management software daily. Actively train AmeriCorps to help them develop construction and leadership skills. Participate/assist in special projects and other duties as assigned Qualifications What You Bring: Five years or more of home construction experience. Customer-service skills to communicate with inspectors and administration to develop a positive working relationship. Decision-making skills for selecting personnel and subcontractors for specific tasks and jobs to meet deadlines and budgets. Leadership skills for effectively delegating tasks to AmeriCorps, volunteers, subcontractors. Speaking skills for providing clear orders, explaining complex information to AmeriCorps, volunteers, subcontractors and discussing technical details with other building specialists. Technical skills for interpreting construction methods and technologies along with contracts and technical drawings. Time-management skills to meet deadlines and ensure construction phases are completed on time. Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation and contingencies. Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues. Great problem-solving and decision-making skills Effective leadership abilities, like motivation, goal setting, and conflict management Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking. Working with the volunteer department to prepare for volunteer workers and ensure availability of volunteer leadership at job site.
