We are seeking an experienced Site & Facilities Manager to lead operations at our new Austin, Texas facility. This is a critical hands-on leadership role responsible for bringing online and managing a 48,000 square foot indoor facility that is situated on an 11.2 acre industrial site. As our first facilities leader in Austin, you will be instrumental in establishing operational excellence at this strategic location. The successful candidate will oversee the transition of an existing structure into a fully operational Exowatt facility, manage daily maintenance operations, and build strong relationships with external vendors and service providers. This position reports to the Head of People & Talent and will collaborate closely with teams across engineering, manufacturing, product, and corporate functions. This position is based in Austin, TX. Exowatt is only considering candidates based in the Austin area.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in facility management, industrial operations, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing large facilities (40,000+ sq ft) including warehouse or industrial spaces
  • Proven track record of vendor management, contract negotiation, and budget oversight
  • Strong hands-on maintenance skills across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, building codes, and safety protocols
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with leadership, employees, and external partners
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in industrial/warehouse environments
  • Fluent in Google Workspace
  • Must be based in the Austin, TX area
  • Must have reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Experience bringing new facilities online or leading significant facility buildouts
  • Background in renewable energy, manufacturing, or technology sectors
  • CFM (Certified Facility Manager) or FMP (Facility Management Professional) certification
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
  • Experience with facility management software (CMMS) and building automation systems
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the buildout and commissioning of the Austin facility, transforming an existing structure into a fully operational facility and site
  • Develop and implement facility management systems, procedures, and documentation for the for the 48,000 sq ft facility and site
  • Manage the 11.2-acre property including grounds maintenance, parking areas, and exterior infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including building codes, fire safety, OSHA, and environmental requirements
  • Directly manage and supervise all safety practices
  • Execute and oversee preventive maintenance programs for all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security
  • Perform hands-on maintenance tasks and repairs across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems
  • Maintain safety, and operational efficiency of all facility and site areas
  • Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently; maintain equipment logs and safety documentation
  • Respond to facility emergencies as needed
  • Partner with Austin based Chief of Staff to provide regular updates to leadership on facility status, projects, and operational metrics
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including maintenance records, vendor contracts, and compliance certifications
  • Coordinate with Miami headquarters on facility standards, best practices, and cross-site initiatives
