About The Position

Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced Site Engineer II to provide service and maintenance for the Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) System, which is used for treating cancer at The University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and the associated support systems as assigned. The Site Engineer II will be responsible for technical support and direction for preventative / corrective maintenance and analyze the system operation data by collaborating with the engineer of PBT System manufacturer. The Site Engineer II will work as part of the team to ensure compliance of technical and mechanical programs such as; worker safety, spare parts program, tool management, equipment tagging, facility procedure compliance, administrative procedure compliance, office equipment and systems by following all necessary procedures, protocols and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working or education as a design and/or engineering and/or maintenance for mechanical / electrical device, or medical device.
  • At least 1 year of experience of technical trainers to subordinates is preferred.
  • Technically skilled with proven ability to troubleshoot problems, solve abstract issues, and interpret policies and procedures
  • Ability to Identify the hazard risks and work safely read and correctly interpret various engineering documents (schematics, wiring, piping diagrams, etc.)
  • Read and interpret the Japanese technical document by using several tools (like as Google interpreter).
  • Use standard electrical test and measurement instruments (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, etc.)
  • Safely work in regions of mechanical, electrical, high voltage and radiation.
  • Safely lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Work on elevated areas with safety harnesses
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team
  • Maintain focus and work with precision over extended periods
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word)
  • Develop and improve procedures
  • Flexibility to cover rotating shifts and availability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technicians in site to improve the technical skills and knowledge of them.
  • Monitor and positively affect operational performance of PBT system and patient experience.
  • Interface with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction
  • Respond and answer to customer’s technical questions within a reasonable amount of time
  • Communicate closely with the engineers of the PBT system manufacturer to ensure early recovery in the event of a PBT system failure
  • Collaborate with engineers at other sites to improve PTD's technical capabilities.
  • Communicate with engineers at PBT system manufacturers and engineers at other sites to continue to improve your own technical capabilities.
  • Support the site service manager and the service technicians technically to write the maintenance documents at the maintenance of PBT System.
  • Receive the emergency call and supervise the maintenance service technicians technically.
  • Analyze the system failure and propose the countermeasures.
  • Make the recovery procedure and the training material for Maintenance service technicians.
  • Train and Maintenance service technicians to improve their knowledge.
  • Work with team members to minimize part costs and maximize effectiveness.
  • Work in compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to HIPPA, EH&S, FDA, OSHA Radiation Safety, applicable laws, and internal policies and interpretations of the above as required
  • Safely work in areas with high voltage/ elevated area and utilize proper LOTO (lock-out, Tag-out) safety practices.
  • Pack and unpack the cardboard box and/or wooden crate, perform inspect and test Incoming/outgoing materials and participate in shipment preparations.
  • Transport packages, wooden crates, gas cylinders to and from the loading dock and warehouse
  • Complete and submit all timecards and service reports in a timely fashion and includes all relevant details.
  • Documentation for inventory control of the necessary supplies and parts.
  • Create and maintain 6S practices (Safety, Sort, Store, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
  • Self-motivated and have strong sense of responsibility.
