About The Position

The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA are seeking experienced and energetic Site Directors to lead our summer camp program. This leadership role supports our nonprofit mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Kids Club Director, the Site Director provides hands-on leadership for campers and camp staff, ensuring a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate camp experience. This position plays a key role in building positive relationships with children, families, and staff while maintaining the highest YMCA standards and state regulations. Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21
  • At least three (3) years of experience in education, coaching, youth development, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification required
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, and consistent leader
  • Calm and composed in high-energy or challenging situations
  • Flexible and solution-oriented
  • Deep commitment to the physical and emotional safety of campers
  • Ability to sustain energy and engagement throughout the camp day
  • Passion for helping children grow in character, confidence, and social skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership for an assigned group of campers
  • Plan, facilitate, and oversee daily camp activities including rotations, lunch, swim supervision, special events, and theme days
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA program standards, safety procedures, and cleanliness expectations
  • Enforce YMCA policies related to medical concerns, behavior management, child abuse prevention, emergency response, and risk management
  • Cultivate positive and professional relationships with campers, families, and staff
  • Support and coach counselors and support staff by modeling strong group management and activity facilitation
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive environment by greeting campers and families daily
  • Communicate promptly with the Kids Club Director regarding staffing, incidents, or concerns
  • Ensure all staff meet state regulatory requirements outlined in training and handbook materials
  • Provide operational support across camp as directed
