Following the expansion of our US footprint with the acquisition of a new commercial-scale viral vector facility in Durham, North Carolina we have some new opportunities to join us. We’re currently recruiting for a Site Buyer, Procurement, to join our team. We seek a highly motivated and organized individual with experience working in a vendor-facing role supporting a GMP Biotech/pharmaceutical operation to help evolve our Supply Chain & Procurement organization into an audit-ready, partner-enabling, GxP-compliant function. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience in Pharma or Biologics Manufacturing/Supply Chain is required, or at least three years of equivalent work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Procure to Pay flows.
  • Purchasing experience using an ERP system is required, SAP preferred.
  • Understanding of legal concepts as related to vendor agreement contracts.
  • Understanding of accounting/finance practices.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, and internal business customers, and senior management.
  • Strength in communicating and working effectively with broad stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Process purchase requisitions, purchase change orders and requests for quotes to suppliers.
  • Coordinate purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Be a local subject matter expert in the procurement system (SAP) and assist in its implementation.
  • Ensure indirect procurement process is followed, and contracts are loaded into Blackbird system.
  • Responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; monitor approval of invoices for payment, receipt reconciliation and invoice discrepancies.
  • Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine compatibility with company objectives.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with critical suppliers to drive value to elevate improved supplier performance, TCO, quality, and service.
  • Review opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered.
  • Identify potential supply risks, communicate to management, and support development and execution of risk mitigations as needed.
  • Ensure SOX compliance for company, if appropriate.
  • Collaborating with production planning and QA to ensure vendors meet timelines and GxP requirements.
  • Perform supplier negotiations on one-off purchases that are not covered by an existing contract or sourcing strategy (spot buys).
  • Assist with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, work instructions and training materials.
  • Establish key stakeholder relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to interact with all levels within the organization, inclusive but not limited to Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Warehouse/Logistics, Operations, Finance, R&D, etc.
