The Simulation Technician provides technical support for all simulation operations. This includes preparing, maintaining, and repairing computerized manikins, task trainers, audio-visual equipment, and the Educational Management Solutions database.

Requirements

  • Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
  • 1 Year of Experience
  • Drivers License (TXDL)
  • Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies. These range from anatomic models and task trainers to screen-based simulation. They also include full-body patient simulators and virtual reality simulators.
  • Knowledge of technologies including basic theory, design, and implementation.
  • Proficiency in the use of audio-visual equipment.
  • Proficiency with PC applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and MAC applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of patient simulation services technologies and applications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and troubleshoots software and hardware issues and installs software and hardware upgrades.
  • Works with content experts and education specialists to evaluate new equipment. Identifies opportunities for integration into healthcare education. Adapts new technology into training programs. Develops effective communication networks and maintains records of repairs.
  • Maintains professional relationships with learners and facilitators.
  • Regularly attends and participates in meetings for the simulation department.
  • Operates and programs simulator equipment for simulation sessions. Ensures equipment is in good condition before simulations and activities. This includes audio-visual recording equipment and learning management systems. Conducts routine equipment maintenance. Maintains up-to-date records of simulation equipment.
  • Develops training programs on using simulation equipment. Trains faculty and staff in operating simulation equipment and learning management systems. Works with internal and external people from various disciplines and training levels.
  • Sets up and cleans rooms for training sessions. Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and other items. Maintains advanced simulation lab as an effective facility and learning environment.
  • Ensures accurate maintenance of all education and training records saved on simulator computer programs.
  • Provides reports to the department manager.
  • Maintains the clinical simulation van for transporting equipment.
  • Provides maintenance for simulation equipment at satellite facilities as needed.
