About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Simulation Education Specialist is to facilitate the utilization of the Simulation Center with multidisciplinary professionals and staff using various levels of fidelity simulators (task trainers, human patient simulators, standardized patients, and virtual reality simulation). Daily tasks include collaboration with leaders, clinicians, educators, and the simulation team to develop simulated experiences; to facilitate simulated experiences including debriefing sessions; to host training for new facilitators in simulation methodology and debriefing techniques; to prepare, operate, and troubleshoot equipment within the Simulation Center. Focus development of simulation scenarios on Evidence-based Practice and Patient Safety Goals while utilizing the INACSL Simulation Standards. Develop realism into the simulated environments through moulage, props, and/or stage setting. Reports directly to the Simulation Center Manager. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Recent direct patient care with a minimum of 5 years nursing experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Simulation, or Adult HealthCare Education is required.
  • Operating simulation mannequins, both pre-programmed scenarios and on the fly.
  • Utilization of standardized patients within a simulated experience.
  • Application of Adult Learning theories and debriefing models.
  • Theatrical production to include moulage, props, and staging.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
  • Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact).
  • Excellent communication skills, multitasking, ingenuity and creative skills, problem solving, and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in inter-professional education and training preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Society of Simulation in Healthcare Member; Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE); Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A), or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) is preferred.
  • Formal training or experience with low, midrange, and high fidelity simulations and virtual reality simulators.
  • Familiar with AV/IT equipment used in simulation scenarios.
  • Additional Training gained through Seminars, Conferences, Accreditations and or on the job training.
