About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Simulation Operations Specialist - Boca Raton, FL. The Simulation Operations Specialist provides essential technical and operational support for clinical simulation and skills-based learning. This role manages audiovisual systems during simulations, assists faculty with Standardized Patient (SP) scenarios, and oversees SP logistics, training, and documentation. Responsibilities include maintaining lab readiness, managing inventory and equipment, supporting room setup and teardown, and ensuring smooth delivery of simulation activities. The specialist serves as a liaison between faculty and SPs to maintain scenario fidelity, supports data collection for research and evaluation, and contributes to quality assurance processes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

  • Background in a healthcare or clinical setting, such as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Respiratory Therapist, or a similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and technical support for simulation and skills activities.
  • Operate and troubleshoot audiovisual/recording systems during simulations.
  • Assist faculty in preparing Standardized Patient (SP) scenarios and support SP training, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Manage SP logistics, including sign-in, orientation, feedback collection, and forms.
  • Oversee inventory, supply ordering, and equipment tracking.
  • Assist with room setup, teardown, cleaning, and equipment staging.
  • Support student and faculty orientations to simulation and lab procedures.
  • Maintain overall lab readiness and support quality assurance efforts.
  • Serve as liaison between SPs and faculty to ensure scenario accuracy and fidelity.
  • Support data collection and documentation to assist research and program evaluation.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
