As a Simulation Operations Specialist, you will support the use of simulation in multidisciplinary healthcare settings. In this role, you will prepare and maintain lab equipment and materials (i.e., patient simulators, computers and audiovisual systems), ensuring proper working order and efficiency. You will also collaborate with educators and other caregivers to design, implement and improve training modalities. This role is highly technical, requiring an individual with a mastery for electronics and skilled techniques. Ultimately, your efforts help prepare caregivers for real-life events, thus enhancing patient care and the delivery of safe, effective treatment. A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 4:30pm and could vary as needed. Saturday shifts may occur rarely, but no Sundays.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in a healthcare setting OR two years of healthcare simulation experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Nursing or a related field
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Ability to move up to 85 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on overhead equipment
  • Ability to work in confined, darkened areas.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Program software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications.
  • Operate patient simulators for the duration of simulations.
  • Assist in training faculty in the use of simulation equipment.
  • Collaborate in maintenance and repair by troubleshooting immediate issues with simulation equipment and all other equipment used in relation to the simulations.
  • Set up and tear down rooms in preparation for various simulations.
  • Work closely with department manager and education specialist in coordinating simulations.
  • Work closely with department manager in maintaining inventory of all equipment and supplies related to simulation.
  • Provide recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Operate and maintain audio/visual equipment as needed.
