About The Position

The Simulation Lab Technician position is full-time within the Healthcare Professions department. This position involves setting up and cleaning up the simulation environment, programming simulators, running simulation equipment, and developing technical proficiency with all aspects of operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and basic repair for all equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer proficiency in PC and/or Mac-based software applications is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A technical diploma/certificate or associate degree in technology or a health-related field is preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or direct patient care is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with at least one (1) year of experience using high-fidelity human patient simulators, multimedia equipment, and experience with different types of medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with faculty and others to plan and provide for patient simulator training for diverse populations.
  • Teaches faculty, students, and others the proper use of simulators, including start-up and shut-down processes.
  • Collaborates with administration, simulation manager, simulation coordinator, faculty, staff and potential funders to demonstrate the various use of the simulation lab.
  • Assists the simulation manager, simulation coordinator, and faculty in the selection, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient simulation; provide appropriate patient scenarios that can objectively measure student competency on various skills and abilities.
  • Assists with setting up and cleanup of simulation environment prior and after the simulation sessions.
  • Assist in programming simulators and running simulation equipment during simulations including computer hardware, props, electronic health record, human patient simulators and audio-visual equipment.
  • Develops technical proficiency with all aspects of operation, maintenance support, trouble shooting and repair for all equipment.
  • Coordinates transport of simulation equipment as necessary.
  • Create moulage and any other needed materials for the simulation scenarios as outlined in the scenarios’ checklists.
  • Promotes an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and accountability.
  • Collaborates with Healthcare Professions faculty and administrative staff in developing a strategic plan to achieve the Colleges’ mission and goals
  • Assists with development and maintenance of the “simulated hospital” environment.
  • Complies with College and Division Policy and Procedures.
  • Assists with data entry for various record keeping.
  • Assists with the collection, compilation, and analysis of simulation statistical usage data.
  • Any other duties assigned by either the simulation manager or simulation coordinator.
