Raytheon is looking for a Scrum Master to join MDS, supporting team Mission Sim-possible 2(SIM2) in the MC3 Agile Release Train (ART). This person will provide agile leadership to the SIM2 team, while also directly working on Systems Engineering and/or Software Engineering scope. The Sim2 team is responsible for the execution of a subset of Systems Engineering and Software scope for the AN/TPY-2 Programs, specifically in the areas of Common X-band Engineering Development Tool (CX-EDT) simulation and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system. Typical activities executed by the Sim2 team include system performance gap analyses and trade studies, architecture definition, design, prototyping, software development and analysis for new or enhanced system capabilities. Along with execution of individual engineering tasks, the Scrum Master will be responsible for facilitating the Scrum process and helping the team work effectively. They act as a servant-leader, guiding the team in adopting and adhering to Scrum principles and practices. This involves removing impediments and coaching the team. The scope of this team includes Radar Software Algorithm Development & STRs maintenance and THAAD Threats/Discrim. The Scrum Master is expected to work hand-in-hand with the Product Owner as well as the Release Train Engineer (RTE) for impediment removal, continuous improvement, metric roll-up, and JIRA validation. This position is located onsite in Woburn, MA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 2 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • An active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
  • Experience with software development, testing, and/or integration using C, C++, or Ada
  • Experience with agile methodologies and SAFe and/or Scrum at Scale framework

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AN/TPY-2 System and/or current Missile Defense programs, with specific experience in large, complex systems
  • Ability to understand radar systems technology in the areas of radar design and analysis, and systems engineering development
  • Knowledge of and ability to work within the Agile Scrum development practice
  • Agile Management and Engineering Tools (Jira, PDM, etc.)
  • SAFe Scrum Master certification
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time-critical requirements
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles and metrics

Responsibilities

  • Sprint planning and Program Increment (PI) planning
  • Ensuring the team conducts daily stand-up meetings effectively, focusing on progress, impediments, and plans for the day.
  • Helping the team understand and commit to the sprint goals and plan the work for the sprint.
  • Facilitating the review of the completed work at the end of the sprint, gathering feedback, and adapting the product backlog
  • Guiding the team in reflecting on the past sprint, identifying areas for improvement, and creating action items.
  • Identifying and removing obstacles that hinder the team's progress, whether they are technical, process-related, or interpersonal.
  • Working with the team to find solutions and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Protecting the team from distractions and interruptions.
  • Helping define and manage the product backlog.
  • Facilitating communication between the team and the Product Owner.
  • Ensuring the Product Owner understands Scrum principles and practices.
