About The Position

The SigmaNEST Programmer is responsible for receiving production orders and converting engineering drawings and DXF files into machine-ready programs using SigmaNEST software. This role ensures efficient nesting of parts onto burning machines to maximize material utilization and production efficiency. The programmer also verifies part quality and accuracy against engineering drawings to ensure all components produced meet required specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience working with DXF files and CAD drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Understanding burning machines (plasma, laser, or oxy-fuel cutting).
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple production orders.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift materials as needed.
  • Visual acuity required for reviewing drawings and inspecting parts.
  • Manufacturing/shop environment with exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and metal fabrication processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or experience in CNC programming, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with SigmaNEST or similar nesting software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and review production orders, drawings, and DXF files from engineering or production planning.
  • Convert drawings and DXF files into SigmaNEST programs for burning machines.
  • Create optimized nesting layouts to maximize material usage and minimize scrap.
  • Program cutting paths for burning machines to produce steel plate components according to specifications.
  • Verify programming accuracy by cross-referencing programs with engineering drawings and order requirements.
  • Conduct quality checks on produced parts to confirm correct shapes, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot programming issues and adjust nests or programs as needed to improve production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and machine operators to ensure smooth workflow and accurate output.
  • Maintain organized documentation of programs, nesting files, and production records.
  • Monitor material usage and recommend improvements for cost efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Ensure all programming and production processes follow company safety and quality standards.
