Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred
  • Current Class A CDL and Medical card required
  • Minimum of six (6) months Class A CDL driving experience. Experience driving in the food industry is highly preferred
  • Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) in accordance with NDCP’s hiring requirements
  • Ability and willingness to operate a manual and automatic transmission tractor
  • Ability to safely operate a refrigeration unit and a lift gate
  • On Board Computer/Electronic Log System experience preferred
  • Ability to read a map and/or follow written directions to navigate assigned routes efficiently and safely
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOT regulations and Commercial Motor Vehicle requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional customer service mentality
  • Ability to work effectively in an individual and team environment
  • Effective decision-making skills and sound judgement
  • Ability and willingness to work varying work schedules, as needed, to support NDCP’s operation

Responsibilities

  • Safely operates a tractor trailer truck that transports product to and from specified destinations.
  • Conduct a proper pre-trip inspection to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.
  • Ensures delivery-related paperwork is in order before departing the Distribution Center or transportation hub.
  • Prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery of products.
  • Assists with the loading of trailer at supplier locations.
  • Detaches loaded trailer and picks up empty trailers in a safe manner into store locations.
  • Maintains proper logs of travel and product according to Federal, State and DOT regulations.
  • Maintains contact with Member Services / applicable operations transportation personnel to communicate any delivery problems or delays.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and presentation of the interior of the truck cab.
  • Conducts a proper post-trip inspection to ensure equipment is in good working order to minimize delays the following day.
  • Timely reports any vehicle maintenance or malfunction issues to the appropriate Transportation Supervisor.
  • Utilizes a high level of customer service in serving as the primary NDCP point of contact between the Distribution Center and the supplier.
