This is a project-based position with an anticipated duration of 6 months, located on-site in Los Angeles, CA. The Show Manager leads the design, development, and delivery of all Show-related exhibition elements within a fast-paced, creative environment. This role is responsible for the overall management of the Show scope, including budgets, schedules, and cross-departmental teams, ensuring all creative and technical deliverables are successfully executed from concept through installation, aligning with Meow Wolf's high standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in major project production and installation within the immersive arts, theater, or themed entertainment industries.
  • Must have direct experience in all phases of a project, from design through fabrication, on-site installation, and programming.
  • Must have fabrication experience or extensive experience reviewing and overseeing vendor fabrication with a wide array of materials and processes.
  • Proven track record of creating, managing, and adhering to complex, multi-million dollar project budgets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to confidently present information and guide meetings in various group settings.
  • Deep understanding of the creative process and the ability to effectively collaborate with and manage creative teams.
  • Previous experience in a Show Management, Project Management, or a similar Coordinator role.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks and competing priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Airtable, and project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Show Team, in collaboration with Show Leadership, to deliver all aspects of art and technical elements for the exhibition.
  • Oversee and manage multiple outside vendors for all Show disciplines, ensuring a professional and collaborative, art-centric process.
  • Develop and manage detailed, coordinated schedules for all Show elements, identifying and mitigating critical path and resource issues.
  • Hold full budgetary responsibility for the Show scope, monitoring, and managing costs throughout the entire project life cycle.
  • Manage the procurement process, including writing scopes of work, managing bids, negotiating contracts, and overseeing vendor performance.
  • Serve as the day-to-day manager for all awarded Show contracts, handling approvals, change orders, and ensuring adherence to schedule and budget.
  • Direct the project life cycle of all Show elements through design, fabrication, on-site installation, testing, and final commissioning.
  • Lead Show production status meetings and provide regular, clear updates to Project and Executive Leadership.
  • Develop the Show labor plan and authorize overtime as needed, in collaboration with Project Leadership and Department Managers.
  • Mentor and coach subordinate Show Coordinators, providing direct feedback and guidance on their project support roles.
