About The Position

THE WORK Learn by Doing in a Real World Aviation Shop As a Shop Technician Apprentice you will rotate through core shop activities under the direct mentorship of senior technicians and the Shop Manager. The program will start in late spring/early summer 2026, and your approximately three month experience will include: Component Disassembly & Reassembly : Perform step by step teardown and rebuild of landing‑gear assemblies, wheels, hydraulic pumps, brakes, actuators, engine mounts, and valves. Test Equipment Operation : Operate high‑pressure hydraulic stands, actuator test rigs, and precision measurement tools; learn to interpret test data and verify compliance with engineering drawings. Quality & Documentation : Conduct visual and dimensional inspections, record findings in the shop’s tracking system, and practice airworthiness directive compliance. Return to Service Process : Observe and assist with the final release of repaired parts, ensuring they meet all certification criteria before returning to flight lines. Continuous Improvement Projects : Participate in short‑term projects aimed at reducing re‑work, improving workflow, or enhancing tool utilization. The apprenticeship requires a commitment of 20 – 40 hours per week over an approximate 12 week period in the late spring through summer timeframe. Please Note: If you are hired, you will be performing an important safety-sensitive job covered by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Regulations require that you participate in an alcohol and drug testing program for the following drugs: Marijuana - Opioids - Cocaine -Amphetamines – Phencyclidine – MDA (methylenedioxyamphetamine) – Heroin (6-Acetylmorphine) - or a metabolite of these drugs. Technical Aptitude : Basic understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and precision measurement; prior hands on experience (e.g., labs, shop class, hobby projects) is a plus. Detail‑Oriented : Ability to follow technical manuals, work safely, and maintain high‑quality workmanship. Team‑Focused : Strong communication skills; eager to collaborate with seasoned technicians, engineers, and logistics staff. Requirements
