About The Position
Shop Technical Lead SF Metalworks Colusa, CA | Onsite (Must Be Able to Commute) Lead the Craft. Shape the Work. Set the Standard. We're looking for a Shop Technical Lead -a hands-on master fabricator and welder who wants to lead from the shop floor, elevate craftsmanship, and mentor a talented team. Requirements
- 7+ years of welding/fabrication experience -architectural metalwork strongly preferred.
- Proven mastery of MIG, TIG, Stick welding and decorative/structural fabrication.
- Ability to read complex drawings and translate them into precise, buildable work.
- Experience leading or supervising a shop floor team.
- A commitment to doing things safely, correctly, and with pride.
Nice To Haves
- Experience creating high-end custom architectural pieces (stairs, gates, railings, art panels).
- Working knowledge of CNC machinery and metalworking equipment.
- A portfolio that shows your craftsmanship-and your range.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fabricators, welders, and CNC operators.
- Set the tone for craftsmanship, pace, and pride on the shop floor.
- Provide hands-on coaching that sharpens skills and strengthens team performance.
- Assign and manage daily tasks to keep production moving smoothly.
- Track progress and adjust workloads to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Maintain an efficient, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform advanced MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on architectural and decorative projects .
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and design specifications.
- Complete in-process and final quality checks to ensure every piece meets our standards.
- Enforce OSHA guidelines and company safety protocols.
- Model safe practices and ensure the team follows them consistently.
